Start your Day off Right
If you’re scrambling to get the kids to school and dodging traffic along the way, then this won’t be doing you any favours. Arriving at work feeling stressed will only make your situation worse and it will make you more prone to outbursts too. One way for you to get around this would be for you to try and start the day off with proper planning and good nutrition. Take the time to make a good breakfast, get up early and always try your best to work half an hour ahead of time. This will give you more leeway with your schedule and it will also give you a minute to take a breather when you really need it.
Be Clear with your Requirements
One of the main contributing factors to work-related stress is burnout. If you don’t know what your employer expects of you, or if their requirements are changing by the day, you may not know whether you’re doing a good job or not. This can cause you to feel way more stress than required and you may even feel as though you can’t do anything right. If you want to help yourself here, it helps to sit down and talk with your boss about your role within the company. Ask them what your responsibilities are and find out if you can develop some strategies that will help you to meet them.
Stay Away from Conflict
Interpersonal conflict will take a toll on your emotional and physical health. Conflict with co-workers can be difficult to escape too. If you want to avoid it then try and stay away from office humour, gossip or even politics. You might also want to avoid those who don’t work well with others too. If you do find yourself in conflict anyway, learn how to deal with it properly and take a step back to analyse the situation before you react.
Actually have a Lunch Break
If you are constantly working through your lunch break, you may never get the chance to de-stress throughout the day. Take 10 or even 20 minutes for yourself, have lunch in a quiet room or even listen to some music. One of the biggest stressors at work is actually physical discomfort. If you live in your chair and you constantly have a sore back, then this can cause you to feel physically tense.
